Minutes assume open roads with no traffic. Departure pickup times add a traffic allowance of 10, 15 or 20 minutes, depending on the town, plus the curb margin you choose. Door times are rounded down to the nearest 5 minutes.
Measured by road from Terminal 2
Every figure in the table starts at the Terminal 2 curb and follows the road, not a straight line on a map. The minutes are free-flow driving time, with no rush hour and no slowdown on the route.
Those minutes decide two things. They place your town in a zone, which sets the rate. For a departure they also set the pickup time at your door, with a traffic allowance and your curb margin added on top. Zone 1 reaches 15 minutes, Zone 2 runs 16 to 25, Zone 3 runs 26 to 30, and Zone 4 covers 31 and more.
Addresses between two towns
Plenty of homes sit on a line between towns, or a little past the last one on the list. Put the full street address in your request and the desk works out the drive from the curb. The route is measured by road, its minutes place it in one of the four zones, and you see that rate before reserving anything. The address needs to be in North Carolina and within 25 miles of the airport.
If no car company can reach the address at your time, the reply tells you so and you owe nothing. Start with the reservation form and name the closest town if you are unsure.
Roads the drivers usually take
The driver chooses the route on the day, but most rides run on a handful of roads.
- I-40: Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, downtown Raleigh and Garner
- I-540: north Raleigh, Wake Forest and Knightdale
- NC 540 toll segment of the Triangle Expressway: Holly Springs
- US 1: Wake Forest from the north and Apex from the south
- US 64: Apex and Knightdale, on opposite sides of Raleigh
Tolls on the quoted route, including the NC 540 segment for Holly Springs, are part of the fixed rate.
